What our guests are saying…

Having travelled for over 25 years, The Dairy in queenstown is simply one of the most stunning properties I have ever stayed at; simply because of Matt and Paul who run this luxury boutique hotel in the most efficient, welcoming and warm way. I fell in love with The Dairy under different management many years ago, it has now been taken to a new level, congratulations to you, I hope you continue to thrive! — James – Sydney Australia – April 2012, “amazing dairy”

We had the most delightful stay at The Dairy, only wish we could have stayed longer. We have recommended your fabulous hotel to anyone who will listen. Matt was incredibly helpful including taking our luggage on to our next destination. THANK YOU!!!! Breakfast at 6.30 by special arrangement was superb. Couldn’t fault the entire setup except that we ate too much afternoon tea. Thank you for a fantastic stay. — The Connollys January 2011, “delightful stay”

We felt like we were at our own home but with all the trimmings of a wonderful small boutique hotel with the most amazing service!!! An absolute credit to Matt and Paul the new owners who exceeded all expectations of friendliness and service…..nothing was too much trouble, from booking excursions, dinners and everything else associated with Queenstown. Yummy home cooked breakfasts, individual afternoon teas and the glorious spa on the deck overlooking “The Remarkables” I would give it a 9 1/2 out of 10!!!!!! — Kerri – Sydney, Australia April 2010, “Absolutely Fabulous”

I loved my stay at The Dairy, it’s definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
I needed time out having been extremely stressed with work, and Queenstown and The Dairy provided the best escape I could have hoped for.
Matt and Paul were the most wonderful hosts, and made me feel completely welcome and at home from the second I stepped inside. I’d very much like to transplant everything home with me!
Thank you for the most wonderful and perfect getaway, I don’t think I’ve ever come back from holiday so relaxed and happy and completely unconcerned that I’ve got work tomorrow.
I literally don’t have a bad word to say – it was divine in every way, and I can’t recommend it enough.
— Fiona – Sydney Australia – October 2012

Matt and Paul are the prize innkeepers we all dream about when traveling. The location is perfect, the rooms and beds very comfortable, and the overall atmosphere just plain homey and relaxing. From wonderful thoughtful suggestions to the finest of small touches, it makes you realize how important it is where and with whom you stay. We wish they were in all of our favorite spots to visit. A huge thanks to them for making it all happen with so much charming delightfulness!! — Doug Greene – Malibu, California – January 2013

A glorious hotel in all aspects. The location, the rooms, the breakfasts and the addictive tea service in the afternoon. Matt and Paul can send you to all the best spots, and they made us feel that we were their first and only guests….remarkable.
It is impeccable yet utterly comfortable. You will be happy! (And go to the bird sanctuary just up the street….that is marvelous too!)
— Whitney Green – Santa Monica, California – January 2013

Had a brilliant stay at the dairy. Cannot recommend it enough to anyone going within 100miles of Queenstown. Matt and Paul made us feel right at home and the service…impeccable.
Best way to start and finish a “great walk”
— Justin Jones – Sydney, New South Wales, Australia – December 2012

From the moment we stepped into the quiet sanctuary of The Dairy, we felt ourselves relaxing. The jar of brightly coloured jelly beans on the entrance table a quirky touch that made us smile. Matt and Paul are the epitome of understated yet impeccable hosts. Our room was so comfortable and the breakfasts sublime. The poached eggs Hollandaise are a MUST! As are the light and scrumptious scones we enjoyed with a delicious cup of Earl Grey the afternoon we arrived – served with the utmost style and warmth in the welcoming and stylish lounge. Their friendly and helpful advice regarding where to go and where to eat was also great. A must if you are heading to beautiful Queenstown!! — Carin – Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa – January 2013

My husband and I have travelled all over the world and enjoy remembering special places where we have stayed. Certainly, The Dairy in Queenstown is one of the most memorable. The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do; our rooms were comfortable with lovely Moulton Brown amenities and the view of The Remarkables was spectacular. But the thing that made our stay so special were our hosts, Paul and Matt. Matt, a former chef, cooks one of the best breakfasts we had on our trip to New Zealand. I still dream about the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon! Both Paul and Matt attended to our every need, from reservations to excellent suggestions about what to do — they were able to get reservations at some of the top tables simply because of their fine reputations. My only regret is that we can’t go back every year — it’s a long trip from Dallas, TX, but if we are ever in NZ again, you can bet you will find us there! We felt we were leaving friends. — Brenton & Sharon Drakeford – April 2014, “Treat Yourself!”

After three weeks traveling in NZ, landing at The Dairy for the last few days was fabulous. Paul and Matt are artists in hospitality. Paul greeted us the moment we arrived, carted our bags to our room and thus began our lovely stay at The Dairy. It is not a farm – dairy is a Kiwi term for a small grocery/convenience store, which is how the hotel building started life in the 1920s. Breakfast and high tea are included in the price of the room and anything your hearts may desire is available by asking Matt or Paul to arrange it. Matt is a certified chef, which shows in the cooked breakfasts and the pastries at tea. Paul is the consummate host, arranging helicopter sightseeing trips, dinner reservations, bungee jumps or hang gliding.
The Dairy is very close to the center of town, has parking for several cars, and is quiet for sleeping. The rooms are a nice size, have electrical adapters in the room and the usual coffee making supplies as well as a lovely carafe of water.
We stayed at a lot lovely lodges and hotels but it is the personality of the hosts that won our hearts at The Dairy.
— Janet Arrowsmith – March 2014, “wonderful property, hosts beyond wonderful”

After racing around New Zealand, it was so wonderful to take a moment to breathe and relax and the Dairy was exactly the place to do this. Paul and Matt make you feel so welcome and at home in this beautiful boutique hotel. Although breakfast is served from 7.30am usually, they kindly offered to serve me from 7.00am so that i could eat before i left for my flight – this to me is outstanding service and not found at many places throughout the world, so thank you both for this. I also had the best night’s sleep in the huge and very comfortable bed and enjoyed the Molton Brown products and big fluffy towels in the bathroom. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this hotel anyone and especially to the more discerning traveller. — Saloni Patel – February 2014, “Simply lovely…”
